What's the all the hype about Breathwork & Ice Baths then?

The Wim Hof Method focuses on controlling the autonomic nervous system to prevent us from being pushed outside of our window of tolerance. It works by taking deep, oxygen-rich breaths that change our heart rate variability. This breathing technique and intentional exposure to cold, halts our sympathetic system from activating and in turn, increases our ability to tolerate stress. It's just about the healthiest thing you can do for yhourself! The Wim Hof Method breathing technique, allows us to accept the moment as it is and promotes feelings of safety and calm.

When we experience stress we tense up and unconsciously change how we breathe. If our nervous system kicks into "fight or flight" mode, we may experience rapid upper chest breathing. If we go into "freeze" mode, we may only take  shallow breaths, or hold our breath completely, so as to go unnoticed.. Much of this experience is automatic and slips below conscious awareness. If these reactions to stress go on for long periods of time, or we aren't able to re-experience safety, it can wreak havoc on the body and our emotions. Through our stress-innoculation protocol, you will become more aware of your bodys reaction to stress and raise your awareness around your ability to cope with more than you though you could.

Ice baths are becoming very popular and the reason why is very simple… because it makes you feel amazing (scientifically proven)! It's a DOPAMINE JACKPOT!!! The science is in, and it shows that after 11 minutes of cold water therapy a week creates a drastic increase in dopamine levels by up to 250%! First we suffer, then we benefit. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter which plays many important roles in our body. Raised Dopamine is associated with greater productivity, more pleasure and motivation.

Exposing your body to cold water reignites a range of regenerative processes in the body.

Here's why we rave about ice baths:

  • Soothes sore muscles
  • Boosts your metabolism
  • Supports your immune system
  • Builds stress tolerance
  • Improves sleep
  • Long-lasting Dopamine increase
  • Burns a ton of calories

What should I bring?

  • Yoga mat
  • Water bottle
  • Swim suit
  • Towel
